Thank you for stopping in for a visit. I am excited to share with you all that is new from the studio and give you a peek into how I work. It is constantly changing and keeping me entertained. I hope you can see the enthusiasm and joy I have found in the studio.
A Bit About Me
I began my painting journey as a plein air painter. Painting "en plein air" is when you take a portable studio outside (all the while, hoping you didn't forget something) and painting your subject from life. You are immersed in the environment with the changing light and weather conditions, biting bugs, nosey farm animals and curious by-standers. It was a steep learning curve, and I don't regret a thing! After I cut my teeth on the plein air experience, I then delved into studio work. I've had the great advantage of living in the Nashville, TN area during a time when the arts really began to flourish here. I also had the advantage of having access to some amazing and giving artists under whom I have had the esteemed pleasure of studying.
As part of my quest to tap into my unique artistic voice, I began to explore abstract art in 2021. Armed with the knowledge and skill I developed as a realistic painter, I moved into a realm of pure design and emotion. Soon, in addition to painting with oils, I found myself exploring mixed media and printmaking, and experimenting with all of the amassed supplies in my studio. I did not expect to embrace this new approach to my painting, but I do love it. I hope you can see the positive energy that I am putting into this work. I don't know where this road will take me, but I am enjoying the challenge.
